Imation's Affirmative Action Policy Statement
January 1, 1997 - December 31, 1997

Imation affirms the right of every person to participate in all aspects of employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, Vietnam Era Veterans status, or any other protected classification.

This affirmation requires the development and use of objective, job-related criteria, clearly communicated and consistently applied in all human resources matters. This is based on the belief that:

  • The dignity and worth of individuals and the company are fostered through the uniform and consistent application of objective human resources policies;
  • People in all segments of society have talents and abilities which can contribute to our organization;
  • Employee growth and development is a shared responsibility of the employee and the company;
  • Individuals and corporate objectives are best achieved in an atmosphere free of intimidation or harassment.

Imation believes that diversity in the work force is essential to the future competitive position of the company and to an effective Affirmative Action Program. Using our diversity to our benefit requires valuing employees for their individual contributions, understanding and appreciating the ways that employees differ from one another, and learning from the different backgrounds and experiences that each of us brings to Imation.

To implement the policy, we provide training opportunities and other programs designed to support supervisors and managers in their human resources development responsibilities.

All supervisory management employees are required to share in the implementing Affirmative Action Plans, and their progress in doing so is evaluated. Quarterly reports of progress are provided by the Human Resources Organization and reviewed by each reporting unit of the company.

The undersigned has the responsibility for establishing this policy within Imation. The Human Resources organization is responsible for implementing Affirmative Action Programs in all Imation organizations, and assuring uniform application of Imation human resources practices and principles.

W. T. Monahan
Chairman of the Board and
Chief Executive Officer
